The amazing Donnie Elbert who is a staple of the Northern Soul has two sides featured on today’s mix.

Greetings All, happy to have you all here for another Musical Episode! This, our 45th, will an hour of Northern Soul or otherwise upbeat and danceable 45s!

Lots of great Philly tracks on here including The O’Jays, The Intruders and The Ethics but while you’ll hear glimmers of what was to blossom under the Gamble-Huff umbrella these tracks generally precede the Philly Sound as it came to be known.

There are also two songs by one of my favorite singers Donnie Elbert. He’s really well known in the Northern Soul scene though a little less so in soul music more broadly which is a shame! While I love Little Piece of Leather and Run Little Girl I chose to go with a couple of songs I hear less often in Northern Soul mixes.

This is another mix where I’m hosting which I hope to make more of a regular feature. Thanks to everyone for the wonderful feedback, I tried to listen to the constructive criticism and welcome any other feedback while I’m still getting comfortable behind the mic.

Peace,
-George / Snack Attack
